The Cattle Car Complex
A Jewish lawyer named Adam Posner was stuck in an elevator. He was claustrophobic and started to panic. As he was trapped he started to remember what happened in the Holocaust. He was reminded how the jews struggled in the cattle cars and were suffocating and got very thirsty. It got dark in the elevator. Adam was afraid of the dark and was asked by an officer to remain calm and stay there for a while longer before they were able to rescue him. Adam was too afraid to listen and started to yell at the officer. Later on Adam was eventually saved. The thought of the Holocaust remained in his thoughts.
The theme of this chapter that the auther (Elie Wiesel) was trying to say was that the Holocaust was so bad that it can still effect people mentaly.
